Selling Stock Photos Sell photos online and earn $$$
Does selling stock photos interest you? If yes, you have come to the right place! You can sell your photos with many great online stock photo sites.
Being a photographer myself, I would encourage you to check out all the sites I recommend on this page, as well as submit your photos to some of them.
Whether you are new to selling stock photos or a seasoned veteran, it is always a good idea to have as many outlets for your photos as possible. I’m not just talking about stock photo sites here. You, as a photographer, should find as many outlets as possible for selling your photos.
How many photos would it take for you to quit your day job?
If you are not sure if selling stock photos is for you then let me give you a fun fact to help you decide. For every 1,000 photos a photographer gets accepted to one of the micro-stock sites they earn between 8 and 14 thousand dollars a year. Not a bad second income for the novice. Of course it multiplies as you add more photos. Do the math. How many photos would it take for you to quit your day job?
Lets say you’re an average photographer and 1000 photos equals $10,000 per year.
20 photos a week for 3 years=3120 photos which =$31,200 a year in income by the third year (if you never add another photo to your portfolio)
40 photos a week for 3 years=6280 photos which = $62,400 a year in income by the third year (if you never add another photo to your portfolio)
100 photos a week for 3 years=15600 photos which = $156,000 a year in income by the third year (if you never add another photo to your portfolio.)
Where Can I Sell photos online?
I will be talking about 7 sites that you can start selling stock photos with, each one is unique in there very own way and offer different advantages and disadvantages to both the photographer and customer alike. Click on the links to find out more about each one.
The first two I want to talk about are great for the beginner because they are a little bit leanyent on the photos they will except. They still expect good quality but a beginner has a good chance at starting out with them. They are
canstock
and
bigstock.
You don't have to be a beginner to submit to these sites but, if you are just starting out I suggest you start here.
The next three sites I want to talk to you about are a little harder to get photos approved by but, they are great sites to sell photos online with. They are
fotolia,
dreamstime,
and
123rf.
These are great sites for photographers of all skill levels.
The next two sites I want to share with you are
istock
and
shutterstock,
These two sites are very well known and can get you alot of exposure. However, they are the toughest of the 7 sites mentioned on this page, to get excepted into.If you submit to them and are rejected the first time don't get discouraged they deny most photographers the first time.Try, try agian.
